So I was bored again today. Did some dishes and laundry, answered a few emails, facebooked my butt off, called the vet, etc. I start actually looking forward to my son getting off the bus so I have someone to talk to, but he comes in and does his homework and Poof! He's out the door to play with his neighborhood buddies. Don't get me wrong, I love that he has friends to play with and that I don't have to set up "play dates" (gag), but would it kill him to ask how my day was? Just a little semi-intellectual conversation? I know he's only 9 years old, but come on!

I soooooo need a hobby, but I can't seem to think of anything that I want to do. Scrapbooking makes me want to vomit (although my mother does a beautiful job at this and would absolutely love it if I would just come over to the dark side of "scrapping"). I joined a gym and never went. One time I signed up for a $300 pottery class and found that the instructor was just a little too intimate with his clay for my tastes. Refund, please! I could go back to school but we're still paying off the loans from the first two times we went. Yes, both my husband and I went to college twice. We failed out of school together, got married, had a baby, and then went back again. It's amazing the kind of grades you can get when you're not writing a term paper with a bong in one hand and a beer in the other. See, because you can't write with your hands full. Duh! So please, I need suggestions for a legal, safe, cheap hobby. Thank you

I Admit It.....

I am bored as hell!! This is why I'm starting this blog - because I know there must be other people out there like me. Married, stay-at-home moms (even though my child is in school) who are bored out of their skulls!

Get a job you say? Well, aren't you pissy! No, seriously, I have been looking for a job for quite some time now. The problem is, and this is a problem almost all of my SAHM friends have, is that we want to work part-time during school hours. I know what you're thinking - we're being too picky. You're right! We are being picky, but not just because we are selfishly wanting to be there for our kids before and after the bus and to take them to their various sports practices and piano lessons. It's also because we've been out of the workforce for long enough that our skills suck. Therefore, we are qualified for crappy jobs that pay crappy and aren't during school hours. Since they pay crappy, paying for childcare so we can go to said crappy paying job doesn't make financial sense. So, trapped at home we stay.

So, my question to all you bored SAHMs is this: How do you keep sane (and please, I'm not looking for the "I bake and homeschool my children" responses. I'm looking for honest, real answers. If it happens to be that you really do eat bon bons and watch soaps, yell it from the rooftops!! Be proud! Or, if you've found the magic career that the rest of us have been waiting for, please share. I won't tell anyone else or compete with you. I promise!
